1:52 am - Knowing this is where I ruined all chance of a post friendship....
....shall not speak, but to quote directly the note written... but to (a) not wishing to interrupt and (b) was answering some of Sam's questions... was unable to give in person and to FB would be too stalky.

Dear **** -

Always wanted & wished the best for you.
Even in my actions, during delicate after times did not seem so kind - always been sorry about the immaturity I displayed in the early naughties, post times.

Best wishes to you and ofcourse *** (memories, not that good these days - hope got that right). All ways wished the best for you, can not stress that enough.

Seems they "got" Osama - we said they would

Respectfully,

****"

Much more to say that this, but in the end... all that matter is that they are well, happy and while iTunes decided the break up song Breathe Me... out of all the tunes... now it has clicked into a more modern tune of Palmer's version of The Ship Song.

7:09 pm - Clinton, Grace Knight and dribble
For those that have been expecting the Belladonna Blog I have been both busy and reserved in producing it while the Bill Henson story was still able to be smelt. Not that I was directly relating her work with the now charge free photographer – but I did have a comment that might have been just as disturbing about her daughter and her films.

But – let’s just leave that as that and DO NOT read into it as you might grouse yourself out for no reason.

On to other issues I can some what proudly state that I have not been watching Big Brother. I have truly lost interest. Is it maturity or is it the fact that I can not be bothered when busy. Maybe it is - and it is the clearest reason – that Big Mouth does not live up to the grounds it claims. This is not about the claim of the T&A more the insight. At this point I wish to give my full backing to Tim B – he is not what is failing this show. Often it is Tony and Rebecca, sorry adults you do not do it for me.
But – it is also there required vibe that male nudity and swearing are all that adult themes are about. In the words of the show – I don’t think so!

Posting this text from my new over white and too many lights (poor planet Earth) with a wall of cocktail glasses and jugs to my left/aprons to my right venue. Located just off Gawler Place. The brightness with the coffee are keeping me asleep, but strangely also making me drowsy. Mmm… weird combo. Anyway that might explain the weirdness of this post. I’m here as it is a fast wireless spot where I’m trying to post very large podcasts of Richard Maegraith and Duncan James. During the week I have not had much luck and if they are not up by the weekend this will be the reason why.

It has been suggested to me that this weekend is a LONG weekend, so not ready for it. I’ve got a few gigs to go to… but as always I’m likely to get Monday and be trapped in with nothing but domestics to do. Nothing wrong with a home day – but I mustn’t forget to find some fun out of it. If I were smart I would plan my holiday (did I just use the H word in relation to me – erk) for late in the ear. Budgets, travel plans etc…

In reality the bike shed needs to be built, but that would (I reckon) require setting some concrete which would be more in tune for the early parts of spring, not this likely rain induced weather. Maybe mowing the lawn – now there’s a task my sinuses could really do without at the moment.

Could really do with a full back massage – that’s random! Well not really considering the number of times I have moved about in the last few seconds. This might also have to do with the fact I’m on a high stool and my footsies have nothing to rest on that does not bend with the pressure I place down with.

Clinton. I knew she was likely not to win. But – I really wanted her in the race against McCain. Now it’s over to Obama to loose it all. Hillary is the same as Bill in the right way and totally different were it counts. Silly voters, Well that is a bit too flippant as any one that votes show knowledge and understanding of the very key roles of democracy. Something that should never be taken as a granted is the right to vote.

Grace Knight: During the week I put a call through to the former singer of 80s sensation and hit singer for the Eurogliders to talk the talk about her new album WILLOW (ABC JAZZ). The album will not be for everyone, what album is that is worth it’s claim. This is her telling the stories that were penned many years ago from some the greats. Covers, well yes. Although more with her love and feel attached to the tunes… not just a few, 14 tunes on this release which is a huge surprise and much more of a delicious platter of songs. Food reference. Oh, yes. Here’s where she shared an exclusive on her next project she is following up on. After she tours the CD, mainly in Queensland first. Grace Knight has put a call through to Simon Bryant (Cook and The Chef fame) to do a duet. Duet? Yes, a project where he will do what he does best with food and she – Grace – will perform. No other media outlet has been told this – so through my radio to you, you’re the first thanks to RADIONOTES to hear about it. The interview (if I can get it organised) will be on Podcast in the next week.

Just an update from last weeks radio show:
The performer Duncan Eagles will be starting his Australia mini-tour in Adelaide tonight (Black Note then The Prom tomorrow) then off to the Eastern States before heading home to the UK.
The other great talent from interviewed live on the show was Richard Maegraith, he and his band will be launching their Debut Album FREE RUNNING (JazzGroove) at the Basement in Sydney on 25 June and will also have a special gig for SENA on 25 July. He is a wonderful Saxophone player, who has recorded on over 20 albums but this is his first record all about him.

What else is there… thinking music, please.

Ta. CLEMINTINE, lovely.

How could I forget the most amazing of all performers and a beautiful lady to boot. Megan Washington will be in town next week performing with Paul Grabwosky as part of the Spider and Silkworms tour as part of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. Thursday Night is SOLD OUT and Saturday Afternoon is selling fast – I have a plus one to both shows. So, if you would like to go with me let me know as always my shout. This will be a very important gig as she is about to become very big with:
*Singing the titles for Bed of Roses
*working with Old Man River
*Is soooooooooooo damn talented
*has amazing and quirky original tunes to share
*Is not up herself like some of the young starts of her generation can be (too often)
*I reckon she has developed a broader sonce moving from Queensland to Victoria.
*… and numerous other reasons. But I will not go on incase she reads this and gets embarrassed.
Tickets through BASS.

It amazes me that sitting in front of this wall of glasses and mainly cocktail ones the stunning, classy set of Adelaide keep walking past. Well till I use my brain – It’s a Friday Night of a Long Weekend and SIC is now out. All the girls with class are grabbing glass for their “hot” drinks. They are looking to hit the night well and good.
Jealous? Who would not be, one could ponder. Enough navel gazing and “?” at the end of thoughts… let’s get this blog up and ready to be shredded by you all.

Play nice. Play often.

6:14 pm - BB08: I DO think so
Well here is a little bit of an ambitious ‘blog on what will happen tomorrow and beyond.

It’s no big secret that I was a Gretel fan – she highlighted and worked within the flaws of a commercial driven TV based reality show that plays on the emotions (maybe some could argue passive level) and offers a level of participation to a national audience. Democratic voyeurism.

Before Big Brother Australia starts for a new year – and I will not ponder it’s lifeline at this stage – I wish to make some comment that might (and I hope in many regards, does not) turn out to be true.

Firstly and foremost – I dislike Kyle Sanderlands. It’s a radio thing, as much as he can be classed as a presenter. I would refer those wishing to defend him first see his performance on Denton last year and for that matter his “headache” (do not forget it was him) entering the house last year. He will and has in the past that it is a new style of radio that breaks the rules – I would argue it is still driven by commercial forces and tethers on the edge of what is suitable. But, he relates to his audience. Maybe I’m getting on a bit or maybe see society could be so much better than the low standards of “he said, she said – they did” broadcasting.

I do not believe his story of hard knocks allows him to be such a brat, prat and plain jerk. But that is his character – to set by this example is to play the fire.

What about Jackie O. Well if I must give a character reference she does what she needs to and in the cut-throat world of the female ‘jock’ has provided some very refreshing and important directions to the shows she has co-hosted. More importantly the private ventures she has developed for radio and the wider media. She is no blonde bimbo stereotype (that the media often requires) and for this she is extra special.

I will miss Gretel and he take on things, even if she had an alleged desire for some of the male contestants. I think this was a very empowering image that a woman that might be typecast as a “cougar” could have a national audience to let the ‘housewife’ viewers know that they could met these chaps at a club and say “hello!”. She also knew the real meaning of the show – this was very much at the fore when she defended keeping the very much needed UNCUT on air – to show all side of the contestants.

[It would be a good time now to offer you to go to the RADIONOTES PodCast (through iTunes) and hear what Jamie (BB07) has to say on the issue of the more candid moments of the show].

Here is a show that should be about the contestants (and they are as it is very likely there will be a prize pool again) being left to themselves in a confined area with new ‘mates’ to discover and share. The hosts should not mark a bearing about what is really going on – or worse still what they thinking is/will go on. But, expect with the host – not forgetting Tony Quires and Rebecca Wilson (The Fat fame) it will be more about this input. Sadly.

Friday Night Live (The Gladiators of the Ten Network) will surely be a highlight again this year. Although the hosts are all hitched (well Mike I’m not sure but he would have no trouble getting a partner) with Bree with Brodie and Fitzy now married to BJ expect less banter on relationships and maybe more about the people inside the house. Place your bets on Saxon winning week one… ok, I have no idea. Another Saxon – I have never met one in person but BB has had a few, does the name stick in the mind of the selectors for the program (the S, X being on). FNL in a way is a shame as it brings the housemates back to the reality there is an outside world – but makes for such great television that it can be forgiven. Oh, do not get me wrong it is not Logie award winning stuff (for that vote Adam Hills for GOLD) it does give a nice Friday night vibe.

So, intruders. Well let’s for his own sake hope that Corey Worthington does not go into the house. Just reading all the hate comments posted on his MySpace (it’s locked but I’m a ‘friend’) about how kids of his generation want to beat him up – and kill him. Here’s the Kyle factor at work, the generation he tries to connect with through his broadcasts. I think – and I will be kicking myself if I’m right – they would be better off getting Cassi McKay (the girl that Harry Potter’s boy might have had his eye on). She was in the news just before the housemates went into lock down and she has the looks (and in a relationship) to deliver some international media attention if required. Oh, also would not cost the reported $20,000 that Corey would be delivered (or should that be his parents!) she would likely do it for a cameo on Neighbors. I’d send some questions to him but being the weekend and school holidays he likely has his inbox full of hate and love mail from his “fans”. Go through his agent – I can not afford that.

You’ve read this far – wow you deserve a medal, even I’ve ordered another coffee – still wondering what I think the dynamitics will be of the characters the show has chosen. Well many will cite a possible religious or generation spat to happen. This is such an obvious one – will this year help to discover a new ‘tolerance’ for Australian society to reflect on. In the words of their own promo – “I Don’t think so”.

Don’t -what an awful over used shortening of the English language. Do Not – just as powerful although less abrasive.

Interesting that Hanson returns into the news with claims that she might have transferred some of the One Nation Party monies into her own account. Alleged – even I do not trust the source of this story (someone proven to want to bring her down ever since she walked away from him). Wonder what Terri thinks of her Hanson-ism thoughts in light of the implications of the reports.

Well glad I got that all out before the series starts so I can be proven wrong or right. Previously I have done BB updates over the years on my LiveJournal. This year I should be able to get a feel in the first week if it will be worthy of regular posts.
Your thoughts, comments or ideas will be more than welcome. Just keep them intelligent, positive (well no slandering) and on topic where possible. Ta.

10:25 pm - Matt Price - Vale
Many are likely wondering what I'm thinking about the Rudd-slide or the chance that Christopher Pyne (even though he only might just win against Mia) could become a future PM.

Frankly - I'm too upset with the passing of the one key elements that was missing from this year's six week of push: Mr Matt Price.

Over the weekend (maybe even as the result of a change of Government came through) he passed away after battling with a brian tumour. Aged 45 with a loving wife and three kids...

..lucky some of the 'girls' in the Canberra gallery will share his spirit and to degree humour. I wish Mischa and Annabel the best in keeping his wit alive the best they can.

Was he like Mark O'Reily. Well so much smarter (no insult to Mark meant) and his penman ship was at times bordering genius... while keeping with the people.

Inspirations of body die - but their soul lives through the memories we hold.

Matt, you know you did great and your family would surely be proud too.

Article: On of his last in print

Blog: http://blogs.theaustralian.news.com.au/mattprice/index.php

George Negus with Matt in 2004 (before the LAST election):
http://www.abc.net.au/gnt/people/Transcripts/s1214114.htm

Interesting. As, he was in Canberra at the time...
"GEORGE NEGUS: I guess from the gallery's point of view it doesn't really matter, because if John Howard gets back, that's a great story because, despite everything that's gone on in the last few weeks and months, he gets back. That's a good story.

MATT PRICE: Well, it's a great story.

GEORGE NEGUS: And if Mark Latham bolts in...

MATT PRICE: Well, if Latham gets in, it's a Latham Labor government, new government, there are a million stories, and if Howard gets back, there's that sort of, "He ain't gonna stay forever," and Costello is an ambitious and - you'd think - a fairly competent fellow. "

7:47 pm - Big Brother 08: Lofts' thoughts on YouTube style
Whilst I'm behind on Election coverage - mainly as my day job eats my energy & also some on the Senate tickets seem to not want to answer WHO THEY ARE!

Delays, delays... I have seen the adverts calling for people for Big Brother Australia 08. The one that Gretel will not be part of... instead Mr Headache and Ms Princess. I've asked for trust BB fan Loft's to share his thoughts on -

The Pro's and Cons of using YouTube applications?

LOFTS REPORTS:
"To discuss the pros and cons first I must really tell about how I heard about this 'new Australia Big Brother idea'

I heard a rumour, end of last year or start of this year, that Big Brother UK was going to be repeating their Golden Ticket idea from the year before (which Australia copied/used this year as the starburst comp) except with the idea of submitting a video online.. sound familiar? I'm not sure if their rumour was true as they never ended up doing that this year. It could be possible that the Australian BB people really did come up with the idea by themselves but the thing is.. is it a good idea?

Well if you cast your mind back to the first seasons of Big Brother (some would say the best seasons due to the interesting housemates), the audition process was to send in a video on tape. Fast forward to now and the latest process is to send in a video... except this time online.

I think some of the cons for this (yay.. finally got to talking about pros and cons!) is that the majority of the people who do watch Big Brother are Tweenies. The thing that
tweenies always do on the show is, instead of voting off people who don't really entertain, they vote off people they don't like the look of and keep the pretty boys and girls in. So when it does come time for people to vote online.. who do you think they are going to vote for.. the bimbo and himbos of course! So we are basically going to be getting the same housemates we have been getting recently (with maybe a couple of interesting ones that might make their way though.. aka Jamie from this years BB).

Another con is that instead of trying to get a broader range of ages in housemates.. they are going to cut of a lot of the older housemates as now many of the older generation are going to be prepared to make a video let alone upload it. Granted some might but then for the ones that do will get cut off due to the first con... the Tweenies.

I really think the main problem with BB Australia is that it is considered a Tweenie show and not an Adult show.. I mean it is a show about adults, with adult issues, adult talk and adult themes.. the only exception is Friday Night Live (which I don't watch anyway as I am usually out on Friday).

If they made BB Australia into an adult show, like BB UK, then maybe different housemates will be selected.. like it used to be at the start. You wouldn't even need to bring back Big Brother uncut if they put the daily shows on at a later time slot.. an adult timeslot.

Anyway I'm getting a bit of track but I think the BB YouTube idea could be a huge pro... but only if they fix up the other problems first.'

4:08 pm - Election 07: 1/2 way through and other tales
The plan was to have to election updates everyday.

But - this election has been (sadly) quite boring and due to my day job and health i have not the power or chance to chase behind the scene stories.

The reality is though, this election is a same-same with the Minor parties not cutting through - yet.

I've been rolling around in laughter that Steve Price is being called a "Journalist", this is where John Law can be respected as he states clearly he is an 'entertainer'. The story this week about Peter Garretts slip, gaffe, joke, ommission that Labor would stop doing Me-To after the election highlight the power of this Jocks to set the 'vibe' of national adgenda in the media of today. The putty fillers of news become the walls.

The Treasuer debate which I did watch in full - unlike the Leaders debate - saw the worm remaining above the line for most of the debate. Was this a reaction to the talent or to the belting it got for being so low on the PM. Could the worm being backing Costello - and how does this affect the "only poll that matters" on the 24th.

The Liberal Advert that goes 5 minutes on your ABC/SBS etc... shows both leader and soon to be leader. Could this partnership idea really make Rudd look like a loner on a selfish trip for the top job? Another the ear-wax eating has maybe help him!

Been trying to get some more details of the Youth Coalition's Adopt-aPolitician as they have a fantastic logo and t-shirt... will follow up at a more suitable time to call them.
Mainly relating to Climate Change issues and related debate/s.
Always great to see young people invloved in elections - but more still with the early close off date they faced this time around.

Rove - what is the deal, I'm so behind i have not seen what the Chaser chaps did for him and the ARIAs. Even after they nearly took a stab at Belinda Emmett (atleast he has a new girlfriend that looks like her or so the Murdoch press would highlight) in the now infamous more famous after death tune by Chris Taylor.

Souurce Melbourne University Press
This week he has Jana Wendt http://www.mup.com.au - who was very mate-like with Belinda - talking up her book that also features an interview with Rove.

Speaking of Ch 10 - my deepest sympathy to Charmanie's partner, family and workers after she died at The Gap. Those dark days will darkned but her light should shine in good time. Too soon - but will the industry know, no.

And also Harold is leaving Neighbours - this must be the start of the end for the show:

9:09 pm - Election 07: Day 2
Day 2

The start of the day saw the PM in his tracksuit on Ch 9 while Rudd with gold tie and slick suit faced his 'mates' at Sunrise at the same time.

By the time Rudd went on Ch 9 he seemed to have missed the lines he had dropped on 7 and the PM got cut off and had to return after the commercial break when he made it onto Sunrise after 8am (a less peak viewing time).

Myspace pollie woffle: Wayne Swan's "Wayne World" really does not show a level of maturity for a future Treasurer - although with the top 'friends' as his family members gets some cred. One of them is a rep for SONY/BMG and another likes weather. Just waiting for a Murdoch paper to 'friend' the younger one with the private profile to see what she really thinks of her daddy.

The biggest news of the day was not the tax cuts - 34 Billion over 3 years outline by the Liberals (note not the Collation - poor Nationals) but the drought - not of water but KEVIN 07 Merchandise!
A few weeks ago I saw an 8 year old wearing the campaign shirt - this was a present from her parents when she went to Sydney. It got me thinking how would you get one if you do not have a credit card. As credit cards just add to the countries debt levels.
So - I rang the Kevin 07 toll free number 1800 139 068 thinking it was a campaign headquarters line - no, it was in fact answered as the "Kevin07 Merchandise HOTLINE" that's right 'hotline' - well, well, well... apart from being three holes in the ground, I thought they will be able to direct me to how to get T-shirts for those interested.
No. They said to go to the website and order. Explain that there was no credit card to use and suggested a money order (you know where you go into the Federal owned/private owned Australia Post). They responded "we do not take any form apart from online".

Not to give up I thought I would go local. They had no idea expect maybe try in the City. Where? They had no idea. I used my head and rang the ALP State Office "No idea". Fair enough they might just deal with state MPS. Steve Georganis MP - his office had "a thought that in a few weeks try again, we might get some". They also had 5AA on hold ironically complaining that local members are not informative enough. Rod Sawford MP is the outgoing chap for Port Adelaide to be replaced (unless there is a huge swing) Union Rep Mark Butler - "no" they did not have any either and seemed to not be getting any. Guess with the swing they need not bother. Then I rang my local Labor MP on a very small margin who had been photographed in one. They shared that they had orders 3 months in the waiting - but would use their own credit card to assist and will be getting a limited number in "hopefully before the election". Mmmmmmmmmm..........
Wonder how many of those presidential flags for the car they will get to sell. I'm sure the Eastern states are flushed with this Merchandise. I could be wrong.

On another front Mr X - Nick Xenophon: http://www.nickx.net.au - knows how to get himself out there and has been making lts of National Media today with his chance in the run for the Senate and then the possible "Balance of Power" as he puts it the Brian Harridine factor. Let's hope he does not watch as many X-films as Mr Harridine has over the years in his role to sensor films.
Poor "Buffy Down Under"... that for another day.

On the issue of conservative thought I MSG Family First Senator Steve Feilding about the Xenophon factor in their SA election Senate chances and Mr Feildings lack of updating of his Myspace page - oh and also well wishes for his Birthday in the 17th.

Here's his response:

"hope you have a good birthday too.

Nick X will increase the challenge in the Senate race in SA, but our candidate Tony Bates is up to the task. He's a senior Holden exec and a quality candidate.

Apologies my blog has not been updated, you are right. I have been responding to emails and comments, but have been very slack with the blog.

I have been busy campaigning for cheaper petrol and grocery prices, help for first home buyers so they're not locked out of the market and to recognise the great work of carers by giving them a break with four weeks respite care a year.

thanks for your email"

A month for careers a year... interesting, Will see what other details I can get in coming weeks for you all.

Finally - on a totally none election issue I had the rudest teller at the Bank today, while I was not in a rush and was patient to get some customer service... when finding out it was just a withdraw exclaimed (not asked) "Why didn't you use the ATM for this".... well dear if you waited to hear the amount it is beyond my ATM limit and I wanted it in a certain breakdown (like coins and $5s). But most importantly and this went over this kid's head... I had already checked another branch that was too busy and then too slow... had chosen this one to get some face-to-face customer service and KEEP YOU AS A TELLER IN A JOB. Tried to call to let the manager know but they wanted me to enter my card number then pin - come on. So, I'll hand deliver it to the manager tomorrow - as she the type that likely says it also to 80 year old pensioners!

Angry. Sure am.

Watching 4 Corners now... highly interesting. They might have it posted up here http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/content/2007/s2057172.htm later tonight/Tuesday

10:36 am - Election 07: Day 1 (of 42)
Well it's been called (I was a little out on the timing). You did not think it had already started?

Election 07 Howard vs Rudd or as i like to put it time to look local - your candidates time to show their true colours.

Even at such a late stage it might just be that - a race election.

The focus last Thursday's oops "I was wrong" might either work for -or if the Minister in charge Mal Brough can speak - a negative.

While writing this I have not popped out yet to pick up the Murdoch Sunday papers to see splashes of slurs about Julia Gillard - could be Deputy PM and future PM - but it is sure to have started as Rudd has not been very inclusive of her. This is likely to keep up a presidential style campaign and focus a two-team of the other side more as a tag team of change.

Over the coming days I will hope to share my thoughts and experience of a few elections that i have covered over the years. In the end it is important that you do your own research on what is your "local" candidates ideals.

There will be a lot of comment here about the media and how they are shaping the campaigns and for that matter the views of the public. You and I.

The biggest concern is that with the new laws many may miss out on the chance to vote as they have not updated their details or for that matter enrolled at all with the AEC. So, if you are one of these people - a task for you first thing Monday is to get in contact with them and sort it all out.
Whatever way you swing in some countries you do not have the right to vote. Often seeing any out bursts of dismay with families swinging from the rafters.

MySpace slacker of the week: Maxine McKew.... I was very much excited to hear back from her office this week. But, it should be pondered WHY no comments have been posted since August on her myspace.
Have they lost the password? Last logged in 3rd September 07.

Although Mark Furner ALP Senator runner for QLD - has left a comment for Kevin Rudd (official) asking him if he is enrolled? What! The man wanting to PM might not even be on the books... maybe he should get what Robert's speech writer got for their comments.
I've MSG Mr Furner, I await his response.

Why at 1400 after the PM has gone to the G-G is commercial radio still running "Climate Change" ads from the Fed. Government. Isn't this illeagl - when is the blackout for Government advertising. Ofcource there is the 24+ hours for political advertising.

(added) At 1716 I saw my first political AD rehashing the "L-plate" theory they used on Mark Latham, now on Rudd and Swan (he's the Opp. Treasurer) - here shows a party short of ideas, don't you think? Using the same advertising lien of attack. It is sure to get ugly.

AEC dates of how and when things will run:
Announcement of election: Sunday 14 October 2007
Issue of writ: Wednesday 17 October 2007
Deadline for new enrolment*: 8pm, Wednesday 17 October 2007
Close of rolls for updating address*: 8pm, Tuesday 23 October 2007
Close of bulk nominations: 12noon, Tuesday 30 October 2007
Close of nominations: 12noon, Thursday 1 November 2007
Declaration of nominations: 12noon, Friday 2 November 2007
Election day: 8am to 6pm, Saturday 24 November 2007

Mark Kenny News Ltd writes: "The seat of Hindmarsh has been held by the Liberals' David Fawcett since 2004. His major challenger is Labor's Nick Champion.

And Kenny should check his seats. Last I checked Steve won it from Chris G. But heck - I'm likely to make mistakes as well so either message me or email radionotes(at)journalist.com

Currently considering to vote in my electorate seat: Minor party through Greens to Labor and in the senate through Greens maybe Nick X with major parties in the last ten spots below the line.

Clarification and disclaimer:

11:55 am - Rudd-y Flu makes me Beazl-zing

Kim Beazley Ponders why he was not allowed to stay on - Rudd got the role
(c) News LTD Online

With the Prime Minister due to be on Kerri-Anne Monday morning I had the feeling the election would be called today. While i slept in to my favourite part of Insiders (the Cartoon review), there seems to have been no such word. So - What's going on. Is he going to see the G-G on a Monday then do the talk circuit.... or maybe it is to release a "Family" policy.

I've been joking an Nov 11th Poll (same day as Gough day and remberence...) but reality is Howard prefers long campaigns and so more Late November is likely in my view.

If the Melbourne Cup is cancelled that might also play in the mix.

In the coming week i'll be sending out my B'day invite via post, SMS, email and messages online.
Reality is I will not get the numbers that my own parental did for their 60th. Unless I have it at a retirement village. Well, I am doing the pub venue to all people to know they do not have to stay for a long time or with the main clan of bods.

I'm still a little bemused that the venue of my last big gathering has anti-corruption posters instead of the dates of their next shows. They still have one of Black Books DVDs (from a special box set) they have not returned to me. Grrr...

So - if you would like further details keep in touch and the invite can be found at my Mac website.

So how has everyone been this week? No I mean that. As, the pre-springs blew in (in SA) and drove the pollen around and way too much dust. Numerous people with flus (yep, me) must be feeling that there is a population of agitators living on the tips of each nose hair - inside the nose.

Huge Jazz show this week when I had the pleasure of speaking with freshly returned to Australia from London MR Andy Fiddes http://www.myspace.com/andyfiddes
His new record (and Debut for iTunes) is called LiveWire and it used wisely his talents as a Fugle/Trumpet player. Bit quiet in places - but that is what makes it great as both a headphones and pub record. You can either fill in the gaps yourself or ponder where the next lick will come from.

Royal Show - while I try not to go that often it is likely I will find my self there with a media past hoping to drop in on some former BB housemates as they make their way to SA. You know who you are - it is going to a fun time by all.

Anyway - words are running over just like the flem that is forming into my throat. Cough, splatter.

10:40 am - Milne and his assualt of standards
We do not expect the following comment to be posted on the NEWS Sunday Herald site as it may be demend to just act Mr Milne (amd not comment on Rudd enough) so here it is:

"How interesting the way Milne tried to defend himself on INSIDERS this morning.
Mr Milne - you did in public eyes assault another human being on stage at the Walkleys. You state you were drunk. Ok - now to Rudd he was in a town he did not know - he walked into a bar that unknown to him had ladies working their bodies for well off gents.
Mr Milne you will argue that your NOT going for the position of Prime Minister - TRUE.
But, and it is a BIG BUT your views are splashed over the front page of some of the highest selling papers and will decide how people think about those running for the top job.
Luckly in our view - it is more liekly he will now be seen as more human.
But - if it swings the other way. Don't you dare use the I was drunk Saturday night defence".

What do we really think? Well Rudd - if he did touch the girls in a manner no reasonable needs to be flown to NY at hsi own expense and asked to apologies to the workers of SCORES.

Politically Mr Rudd atleast will now seem human and will get some of the blue collar votes back and even some white collar.

I do fear - if it has not already happened - there will be a carton with Julia Gillard on a pole offering Rudd or the business community the latest AWA chances. Let's hope she is not objectified in that way.

Latestly - Rudd should have gone last week and got cheaper entry:

Anyway - off to buy and read the trash that Glen has published.

10:59 am - The Latest RPS results for 2007
Rock Paper Scissors Champs – 2007 National Final Results

After months of gruelling, mind numbing, war of nerves competition the cream
of Australia’s RPS players imploded at the 3rd annual 2007 ‘Australian Rock
Paper Scissors Championships’ (ARPSC) National Final, Saturday 11th of
August at' Fisherman’s Wharf Tavern’, Gold Coast, QLD.

The final 16 players in the main event were made up of seven State &
Territory finalists who qualified via respective qualifying rounds and nine
wild cards that progressed via the Australian Qualifying round held earlier
on in the day.

Only one player would concur this war of attrition and inturn claim the
prestigious title & take home the major prize of a trip to Canada to attend
& compete in 6th annual 2007 World RPS Championships (WRPSC) in Toronto,
13th October.

This player was none other then 2007 QLD Champ Ricky Sheahan aka ‘Balboa’.
The 19 yoa left handed student from Brisbane played a game of courage and
skill from start to finish. Calculated game play was Balboa’s strength as
he battled his way to Australian RPS glory and folk law.

Ricky Sheahan aka: ‘Balboa’ player profile:
Age: 19
Dominate Hand: L
Style: Methodical
Occ: Student .

Balboa’s win was not easy and came down to the final game in the maximum
fifth set of the fifth match. The tension in the main arena as ‘Balboa’
faced off against wild card qualifier Gold Coaster Michael ‘Kling’’
Klingensmih was extremely intense and was only matched by the very vocal &
appreciative crowd. ‘Balboa’ clinched the title & RPS glory over ‘Kling’
with an extremely sharp pair of scissors!

Preparation is already underway for the 2008 ‘ARPSC’. Players, coaches and
trainers are now encouraged to hone their skills in the off season in order
to put their best hand forward for the 2008 series.

8:09 pm - Men, homeless and a sore Grant D
Adelaide she is such a sweet place somedays -

A group of 5 business men are playing hackie-sack (ok spelling!) when one of itheir shots lands in the lap of a very abled-wheelchaired man. Who looking puzzled to how he could return without using his hands.

Look at the men and stated - maybe in the budget I'll get some legs.

Brief silence - they all laugh. He used his teeth and throws in the general direction of the previous actio0n.

Then as I walked round the corner along James Place - whistling away I happen to disturb a person in a shop front getting ready to sleep it rough. But, she understood and turned and returned to her orginial state. Left a spare bottle of water for my disturbance.

Now I read that grant Denyer can not feel as if he had looks of s*x with a "black" man... do they not want to be know for being well... you know - or is it that fact that interracial relations is taboo still.
Hang on - I get it. Grant D is not their type!

Anyway - will read the full story later. Expect Ch 9 to ride with it, in tuen this should boost the ratings for seven. He is a racing car driver, after all. Or am I now making assumptions.

*he giggles

7:27 pm - Qatas and men'[s man together - as women sidelined:
Qantas does not like it when international actors are served in the toliets by the air hostess during her break and seem to not like mothers wanting flexiblity after child birth.

But - wanna sponsor women showing " what they got" while getting a trip to a Grand Prix - seems that's ok with the (soon not to be so much) the Flying Kangaroo

11:56 pm - Update: Including NSW trip and new year stuff....
... but for now.

Thank you for Friday.

Could have talked for hours and been so attentive just as long.

One can only wish the world could have had such a lovely time.

Someday perfect hides in the strangest places - and in true spirit then returns to the normal it has. And i to the darkness of the night and then the hotel room of sleep.

2:31 pm - Ch 10 saves Letterman - Aka Eddie Boned Dave but...
Some might say it's sad. But I have always enjoyed either starting on ending my day with some Dave. Sure he's not the most funny and frankly not the most in touch presenter in the world. But - he does not talk down (or for that matter UP) to his guests. he just chats.
After Ch 9 treated his show to the 2am/no screen timeslot due to sport coverage or Star Trek (nothing wrong with Trekkies!). With the introduction of Quizmania (a version of Uplate Gameshow) he just did not get a run.
What a lovely New Year's day suprise to open the TV guide and see Letterman now on EVERY weeknight around M'night (which is a fine time - often right after News/Sport). Now I do think this might change - but a boy can hope that the network understand that Dave does break some stories and is a nice change to the flirting of money making show that are normally at that time.
One could expect to see the following quests in the coming week or so:
Chris Elliott, Hugh Jackman (The Fountain), Jimmie Johnson, Martin Short (Broadway's "Fame Becomes Me"), Donal Logue (Knights of Prosperity), Matt Lauer (Today), Artie Lange (Beer League DVD), Augustana (CD, "All The Stars and Boulevards"), Cedric the Entertainer (The Cleaner),Switchfoot (CD, "Oh! Gravity."), Mary Lynn Rajskub (24)& Donald Trump (The Apprentice).
Anyway - Happy New Year to all and if your a backer of the Letterman let Ch 10 Sydney Know as well as your local stations.

10:35 am - Nova has made a mistake...
Where you been?

Why thanks for asking :)

It's been a very busy time around the den with many changes and frankly the shock of recent events. On that best wishes for 2010 for Gillard becoming PM.

But, seriously - just popped in to review the so called festive season. Apart from working right through (holidays in the new year) by just keeping busy time is flying.

On the radio front the guy on Nova sounds so much like Tunney.. better check that considering he left Austereo in such ways. He also is doing the "maintance" as if he was on SAFM - with repeating the station call so many times. Sounds like his lisp.

Which might be a good time to share which high profile Nova presenter in SA is NOT returning after management decided SHE was not right for them. Let's just say I am angry as about this silly choice of moving on. And if they are replaced (bless her cotton t-shirt) Danille or another BB person or for that matter a news-sweetie I will be even more red with anger.
Not sure if it is official so - that is all I will say.

Best wishes to you and yours for the coming NYE.
